Monogrammed with the initials JM on its center panel, this jewelry box has intricate carving. The lid is adorned with a variety of flowers among foliage and branches on a diamond pattern background inside an oval ring with small circles. A zigzag pattern is carved above and below the oval, while a pattern of fine lines runs along the sides. When the lid is raised, three drawers on each side open by swinging out on hinges. The front and side of each drawer is carved with a flower surrounded by leaves. The base, carved with ovals and diamond shapes, also serves as a drawer with a key. The box rests on four, small, bun feet. Inside, the box is padded and lined with blue fabric, which has worn over time.
