Its high back is carved with the profile of one character on each of its four recessed panels: two males and two females. A shaped cornice with scrollwork, fruit, and a center shield is flanked by ears in the shape of lions bearing additional shields. Lifting to generous storage, the bench's seat is 17.75 inches high. The face of the storage compartment is carved with a central wreath flanked by scrolling grape vines. Two locks with decorative brass escutcheons featuring opposing fish have key holes between their open mouths. Only one key, which in not removable, accompanies and locks the bench.
