Dough Rising Table

Once used as a dough box, this proofing table features dovetail corners, a lid that lifts easily to access storage, and turned legs. Dough rising tables were an important part of the home since bread was a common staple in the 1800s. The storage box of the table provided a place for kneading and storing large batches of dough as it rose. The lid protected the dough from mice and bugs and gave the dough a warm place to rise. After baking, the bread could be stored inside the box.
