Consistent with the intricate, realistic carvings of Black Forest antiques, this beautiful screen features tapestry secured by nailhead trim inside an oval frame with a carved, pierced design of leaves and berries. The screen is raised on a pedestal stand carved to replicate the detail of a branch. The pedestal terminates in three short, scrolled legs with carved grapes at the knees.
Smaller fireplace screens like this were originally used to hide or decorate unsightly fireplaces. Today they make lovely decorating decor from days gone by.Condition: Consistent with age and use. Tapestry is fraying.
