When open, its drop-down, slanted top rests on pull-out supports to become a writing surface and reveal a small, shelving unit with four small drawers. Carvings on the desk include scrolled acanthus leaves, C scrolls, flowers, and a shell consistent with Louis XV-style furniture. The desk is raised on cabriole forelegs that terminate in whorl feet and flat cabriole rear legs.
