With a small compass between the objective lenses, this pair of binoculars served to enhance visual acuity and give direction. Covered in an imitation leather overlay, the brass body is evident through a tear in the material revealing some verdigris. The binoculars are labeled "8 Verres" between the eye pieces, which are 1.5 inches in diameter. The objective lenses are 2 inches in diameter. Compass no longer works.
