A cherub face with angle wings, also known as a putto, graces each corner of this ornate, gold box. Putti were famous in Italy in the 1400's and in Germany and the Netherlands in the early 1500's. They regained popularity in the 19th century. The inside of the box is lined with red fabric and gold edging.
