The chamois, once abundant in European mountain ranges, has become rare in some areas. This shelf, supported by a Black Forest carved chamois, depicts the goat like head. The elegant upward horns with hooked tips loop gracefully backwards. Fine carved lines show the detail of the soft coat. The eyes are lifelike, made of glass. A frame of leaves surrounds the face.
