Black Forest Fireplace Screen (1stdibs)

This floral needlepoint bouquet on a black background was designed as a decorative fireplace screen. The Black Forest frame around the screen suggests that it may have come from Switzerland, but a handwritten note written in Dutch on the back of the screen was added May 15, 1936 by H. J. Boxman Muhl. The needlepoint is protected by glass which has kept it in excellent condition. However, the paper on the back of the frame is torn around the edges.
