Designed to hold 20 quarts of liquid, this brass canister was manufactured by Detroit Copper and Brass, the largest fabricator of copper and brass in Michigan at the turn of the century. The company was owned and incorporated by Charles Buhl in 1880, which explains the Buhl-Detroit name inscribed near the bottom of the canister.
