This unique brass horn features a cylinder with a plunger that pushes air down and into the horn at its side. Horns like these were commonly used on boats as foghorns due to their loud output of sound. Brass loops secured to the horn once had a strap that allowed the horn to be worn over the shoulder or hung on a hook. The plunger on this horn needs repair to create the kind of seal required to make loud noise.
