From Genesis 41, this cast iron fireback depicts Joseph explaining Pharaoh's dream. It is very similar to a print made from a wood engraving by Raffeal, Kandler, and Steinmuller in the 1830s, which is included in the images for reference.
Firebacks like this one were once used at the back of fireplaces to cast heat forward into the room, radiate heat after a fire was out, and add craftsmanship to a home.
