The graceful design of the horseshoe armchair originated in China with the Ming Dynasty over 500 years ago. A continuous semicircle is formed by the arms of the chair and back rail which descends toward the front of the chair. Additional tapered, curved shaped posts which support the rail add to the effect of being cradled making it an inviting chair. This small child's chair is constructed with six side posts, two of which are curved. It is finished with a black stain which has worn in places over time giving it a lovely patina. The seat height is 12", and the depth is 11".
