Originally used to warm the feet in a cold room, this foot warmer had a pan that was filled with coal and used as a heating source. The wooden frame provided a platform for multiple people to gather around and enjoy the warmth by placing their feet near the pan. At the end of the day, coals could be removed and placed in bed warmers with the accompanying brass spoon. The pan has since been replaced with a newer tin alloy pan.
