This roe deer (Capreolus capreolus) trophy was taken by King Leopold I of Belgium in the 1830s. Mounted on a wooden carved plaque, the trophy includes antlers and part of the roe's skull. A copper crest on the plaque is that of the King of Belgium. It reads "L'UNION FAIT LA FORCE." This is French for "Unity is Strength."
