A stunning work of pressed copper, this substantial piece depicts a hunting scene from the late-19th century. If we could title the piece, we would call it "Bugling" after the magnificent bugling stag in the woods, which is the focal point of the piece. All eyes are on him and his doe as he belts out his mighty cry. They are surrounded by three riders on horseback and their hounds. The piece appears to be signed by an unknown artist and is presumed to have originated in Europe, dating to the mid-20th century. The panel itself is created from a pressed copper sheet with the look of both an embossed and raised scene, wrapped around a large plywood board. Key holes have been added to the upper corners of the board for hanging.
