Petite and graceful, this set of two Louis XV nightstands crafted in the late-19th century pairs stunning marble tops over mahogany, bombe shaped bases raised on slender saber style legs that taper and terminate in decorative sabots. The marble serpentine tops are beveled at the front and sides. Comprised of oak and covered in mahogany veneer, the bases showcase banding and inlays that create visual interest and depth. Inlaid marquetry of various wood types form floral patterns of detail and color variation on the three dovetailed drawers. The nightstands are embellished with ornate, brass drawer pulls and mounts on the top front corners and scalloped apron. The marble is not attached to the base of the nightstands as is customary for pieces from this era.
