Fall Cozy Guide

Look closely - here and there, the leaves are beginning to change and we have certainly had some crisp mornings. This means it's a wonderful time to make your home cozy for fall! We're talking about creating a space that invites you to wrap yourself in a luxe throw, light your favorite candle and lose yourself in a good book. Does it sound lush? That's because it is! But it doesn't have to break the bank; it's totally possible to make your house cozy on a budget. Read on for our top tips for how to make your home cozy with fall decor.

Get Cozy From the Ground Up

Having warm feet is the first step to feeling cozy. Consider adding high pile rugs to your living room and bedroom to up the coziness. If you want to start with less of a commitment, smaller rugs work great as layer pieces. Slippers are another great way to achieve warm and toasty feet without splurging. We suggest adding a basket of slippers by your front door so that you and your guests can feel comfortable from the moment you walk in.

Add Layers

Adding luxurious blankets and pillows is a great way to make your house cozy on a budget. Layers like blankets and throws will add texture to your space, and adding even just one or two will go a long way to make your home feel cozy for the cooler weather. It's like putting on a warm, plush sweater, but for your living room.

Scents of Fall

Lighting a scented candle is one of the easiest ways to infuse your home with cozy fall aromas and warmth. We love the elegant sophistication of Simmered Cider by Thymes and Spicy Apple by Rosy Rings. Come in-store to give them a sniff - we're certain they will win you over!

Tones of Fall

Get inspired by the changing leaves and add fall warmth with color. Warm neutrals like tans, oatmeals, creams, and grays mix well with fall accent colors like deep reds, yellows, and oranges. To achieve this look you could add accent pieces, paint trim or simply create a cozy ambiance in your home by dimming the lights. Try switching out harsh overhead lighting with "warm" or "soft" compact fluorescent light bulbs.

Autumn Leaves and Pumpkins Please

What are your favorite earthy fall elements? We like to sprinkle natural touches everywhere we can. Think wagons full of pumpkins, buckets full of fall foliage, seasonal wreaths hung on doors, pinecones in baskets and tied bundles of birch.

Not sure where to begin? We've got an amazing selection of stems and sprays in-store, purposely displayed to give you inspiration. Here's a sneak peek:
